Amid all the controversary surrounding two dance music brands battling it out over a name and trademark, "Best of 2023 - House Music - Cola & Lollipops" re-entered the Beatport Top 100 Releases in multiple genres including Funky House at #21, Nu Disco at #32, and Progressive House at #97.
This incredible piece of artistry from label owner - Jim Carson (OM Daddy, Ganesha Cartel, idtfkngno) - speaks for itself as one of the all-time best, melodic, well-arranged, disco/funk/jazzy/tech house albums, and dynamic works of spiritual house music.
Created in the living room of Cola & Lollipops while other top albums boast of being produced in soundproof studios at megacomplexes and expensive rentals. The album may sound expensive, but was created on a shoe-string budget for a fraction of the cost of its competitors.
Carson takes the Wu-Tang Clan's approach to making music by getting as creative as possible with as little tools as possible in order to achieve a polished, but raw sound, enriched with emotion and passion that only this Southern California native could produce while living thousands of miles away from Hollywood where he got his start as a peer counselor (psychologist/hypnotherapist) and pop-punk-rock singer, guitarist, and bassist as a teenager at age 15.
In his young 20s, Jim Carson could be found DJing residencies in Hollywood at Blue (which is now Sound Nightclub), Liquid Butterfly, Sky Sushi, Club 7969, The Sunset Room, The Key Club on the Sunset Strip, Avalon, Circus, and many others. His first rave he DJ at was called Vibrations Within and was headlined by DJs like Frankie Bones, Ron Reeser, Thomas Michael, and Christopher Lawrence.
Jim Carson celebrates 27 years of DJing and promoting dance music events this next year in 2024!!!
