HALCYON RISES FROM #9 TO #2 IN JUST FOUR DAYS SINCE ITS DEBUT ON BEATPORT TOP 10 TRANCE RELEASES - THE HOME OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC

Dean P & Jim Carson’s “Halcyon” has climbed from #9 to #2 on Beatport’s Trance Top 10, putting the independently released production from Anahata Love Recordings directly alongside releases backed by some of the biggest names and corporations in electronic music.

At #1 sits a major-label-backed release. Surrounding “Halcyon” are artists and compilations connected to companies including Sony, Universal Music Group, Insomniac Music Group and the wider Live Nation ecosystem.

And sitting at #2 is an independent record.

No major-label marketing department.

No venture-capital-funded campaign.

No corporate machine behind it.

Just two producers, an independent label, and a community of supporters determined to see how far a human-made record can go.

Tomorrow, we’re going for #1.

THE INDEPENDENT FIGHT

Anahata Love Recordings has been completely independent since 2017. Alongside its sister label, Cola & Lollipops, the operation has been built primarily through the work and financial investment of its founder, artists, producers and supporters.

There is no major corporation writing the checks.

There is no giant marketing department coordinating the campaign.

A lot of the work happens from one person sitting behind a computer—producing, mixing, mastering, creating artwork, handling releases, communicating with artists, marketing records, managing finances and trying to keep the entire operation moving forward.

Founder Jim Carson knows exactly how difficult that can be.

“Sometimes I feel like giving up because it is hard being the one doing everything—from producing the music, mixing the music and mastering the music, to marketing, sending messages to friends and family and fans, doing the accounting and looking at the funds at the end of the month and deciding what I can afford to spend.”

But that struggle is also what makes a #2 Beatport position so meaningful.

Halcyon wasn’t handed its position.

It climbed there.

FROM LOS ANGELES TO THAILAND

Carson’s relationship with electronic music goes back decades. After becoming involved in the Los Angeles underground rave scene in the 1990s, he eventually played venues and events throughout Southern California and developed a long history spanning house, trance, techno and underground dance music.

After years of concentrating heavily on house music, Carson has recently returned to the sounds that originally inspired him—including classic trance, melodic trance, acid techno and the energy of old-school UK hard house.

“Halcyon” is part of that return.

The track combines driving melodic trance energy with the emotional atmosphere that Carson associates with the classic trance records and dancefloors that originally influenced him.

It is also part of the continuing Trance Utopia Sessions project with Dean P.

And now it is sitting at #2 on Beatport.

THE HUMAN-MADE QUESTION

There is another reason this moment matters to Carson.

The electronic music industry is entering an era where artificial intelligence, generative music systems and increasingly accessible production technology are changing the definition of what it means to create music.

For an independent label that invests real time and money into its artists, that creates a new challenge.

Carson says:

“I’ve switched genres for the time being because I’m inspired by classic trance and acid techno, which I used to play in Los Angeles. I have the drive and motivation to bring back that energy. But this new AI generation makes my job even harder when I’m trying to determine who is actually producing their music and who isn’t.”

Anahata Love Recordings and Cola & Lollipops have therefore continued to emphasize a simple philosophy:

100% HUMAN MADE.

The labels want their releases to represent actual human creativity, musicianship and artistic development—not simply prompts, shortcuts or anonymous production farms.

IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT #1

For Carson, however, the Beatport chart isn’t simply a number.

It represents the possibility that an independent artist and label can still compete.

“I don’t know where the top spot will take us tomorrow with ‘Halcyon,’ but I’m committed to seeing this campaign through.”

That commitment is bigger than one record.

It’s about proving that independent electronic music can still make noise in an industry increasingly dominated by multinational corporations, major-label partnerships and enormous marketing budgets.

And right now, Halcyon is only one position away.

HELP US MAKE THE FINAL PUSH

Dean P & Jim Carson’s “Halcyon” is currently #2 on Beatport’s Trance Top 10.

It debuted at #9 last Friday.

Now we’re going after #1.

If you believe independent artists should still have a place at the top of electronic music, this is the moment to show your support.

Buy “Halcyon” on Beatport.

Share it with a trance DJ.

Send it to someone who loves melodic trance.

Tell people about Anahata Love Recordings.

Every genuine purchase, share and piece of support helps.

Because somewhere between the major-label machines and the corporate giants, there is still a guy sitting behind a computer making music because he fucking loves dance music.

And right now, that guy is sitting at #2.

Let’s see if we can get him to #1.
